New tab layout (NTP)
Where in the UI: chrome_url_overrides.newtab → newtab.html.
See the background, menu, search, folders, bookmark grid and widgets at a glance.
Interface elements
Top: the bookmark search bar (#bookmarkSearchBar).
Top left: File / Settings / Help menu (#appMenuBar).
Folder panel: left / right / top (Appearance setting).
Main area: card grid or grouped view.
Right widgets column (time / weather / RSS), if enabled.
Bottom: background author credit (#bgCredit).
Card size control (Size -/+).
Main flow

Open a new tab.

Pick a folder in the sidebar, or All / Unassigned.

Clicking a card opens the URL (same tab or a new one - set in General).
Full NTP frame
Four zones: top bar, left folder sidebar, central grid, right widgets.
Full-screen background; the UI is translucent.
This frame shows the same scene as the overview (the AI folder).
Top bar (same frame - anchor for a crop)
Use the top third: menu + search + Size.
Search is a wide translucent pill in the center.
